Additional Language Exams

We are proud that we have many bilingual students at Nonsuch High School for Girls and therefore, we are pleased to offer those who wish to sit an additional qualification in their home language the opportunity to do so here at school.

Although we can take no responsibility for preparing students and cannot offer advice on exam boards or specifications, we are able to act as a host centre for the timetabled reading, writing, listening and speaking tests for home language qualifications.  Please be aware that our school policy on bilingual students sitting a home language qualification is as follows:

  • We advise that students work with a tutor who has experience in teaching/tutoring at the required level, or attend an additional language school in which they learn their home language
  • If the qualification includes a speaking component it is the candidate’s responsibility to source a suitably qualified teacher/examiner who must come in to Nonsuch to conduct the examination.
  • GCSE students are entered in Y10.  This allows them to have the maturity required to sit a public examination and speak/write about the GCSE topics whilst not adding to an already heavy exam season in Year 11.
  • A-Level students are entered in Y12 allowing them to focus on their other A-Level qualifications in Y13.
  • All fees and charges are payable by the candidate via ParentPay

Should you wish to be entered for an additional language qualification, please complete the Additional Language Exam Entry Request Form and ensure correct payment is made by 12 noon Wednesday 18th December 2024.
