Visiting Our School

Welcome to Nonsuch High School for Girls, part of the Girls' Learning Trust.  We hope you have a safe and enjoyable visit. Please take a moment to read this information.  It explains the key safeguarding, health and safety, emergency and conduct expectations that apply while you are on the school site.

1.  School Day

Our normal school day is:

  • School day begins:        08:30

  • School day ends:            15:10 (KS3) and 15:20 (KS4 and 5)

Visitors should be particularly careful around the site at the beginning and end of the school day, when there may be significant pedestrian and vehicle movement.

2.  Signing In, Identification and Visitor Badges

All visitors must report to Reception on arrival, sign in using the school's visitor system and provide identification when requested. The school determines the level of safeguarding checks required based on the nature, frequency and circumstances of each visit, in accordance with Keeping Children Safe in Education and other relevant statutory guidance. Visitors must comply with any identification, safeguarding or supervision requirements specified by the school and wear their issued visitor badge or lanyard visibly throughout their visit.

  • Red lanyard:        You must remain accompanied by a member of staff while on site.

  • Green lanyard: You have been authorised to move around the site without continuous supervision.

Please remain within the areas relevant to your visit and follow any instructions given by school staff. Before leaving, please return to Reception, sign out and return your visitor badge or lanyard.

You must sign in and out each time you enter or exit the school premises.

3.   Safeguarding and Child Protection

Safeguarding is everyone's responsibility.  All adults in our school have a responsibility to help keep children and young people safe.  If, during your visit:

  • A student tells you something that causes you concern.
  • You see / hear something that concerns you about a student's welfare or safety.
  • You are concerned about the conduct of an adult towards a student.
  • You have any other safeguarding concern.

You must report it immediately.

Do not assume that someone else will report the concern. Speak directly to a member of the Safeguarding Team, Reception or the member of staff hosting your visit. The school may ask you to provide a written statement.

We expect everyone visiting our schools to treat students, staff and other members of the school community with dignity, respect and courtesy. Harassment, sexual harassment, discriminatory behaviour, bullying, threatening or abusive behaviour, and other inappropriate conduct towards members of staff, students or others will not be tolerated. This applies whether behaviour is verbal, physical, written or communicated electronically.

In particular, visitors must not:

  • Make discriminatory, sexualised, degrading, intimidating or offensive comments, jokes or gestures.
  • Engage in unwanted physical contact or other behaviour of a sexual nature.
  • Direct inappropriate conduct towards someone because of, or in connection with, a protected characteristic such as age, disability, gender reassignment, race, religion or belief, sex or sexual orientation.
  • Behave in a threatening, abusive, intimidating or humiliating manner.
  • Give students personal contact details or other personal information.
  • Accept or respond to personal contact information provided by students; instead, this should be reported to a member of staff.
  • Take photographs, videos or recordings of students or staff unless this has been specifically authorised by the school.
  • Enter areas or use facilities other than those authorised for their visit.

Visitors must follow reasonable instructions from school staff and any supervision requirements associated with their visitor badge.

If you witness or experience behaviour during your visit that causes concern, please tell your host, Reception or another senior member of staff.

Where a visitor's behaviour causes concern, the school may take proportionate action. Depending on the circumstances, this may include asking the visitor to stop the behaviour, ending the visit, requiring the visitor to leave the site, placing conditions on future visits or restricting access to school premises.
