On Monday evening two of our Sixth Form students, Marietta (Year 13) and Martha (Year 12) took part in the Finalists' Concert of Sutton Music Service's Young Musician of the Year. Both girls played brilliantly and particular congratulations goes to Marietta who went on to win the competition, beating the other finalists from Wilson's School and Sutton Grammar.

Well done girls!

Spring Concert 2017-3SPRING CONCERT
On the evening of Thursday 23rd March, the Music Department put on their most ambitious Spring Concert to date. The School Hall was completely full – we even ran out of tickets! We had a complete array of performances, ranging from Western Classical music to traditional African Drumming.  Highlights included: the Concert Band performing Selections from Joseph and the Technicolour Dream Coat; our newly formed Gospel Choir performing a funky Gospel medley; Chamber Choir’s beautiful performance of Poulenc’s challenging Ave Verum Corpus; and the Symphony Orchestra playing the 1st movement of Beethoven’s First Symphony. Congratulations to all the girls involved - it was a thoroughly enjoyable evening! A special well done must be given to our Year 13 Leavers too (Vickie, Hannah, Michaela, Jasmine and Madusha) for whom this concert was their last. You will be sorely missed by staff and students alike. The Music Department would also like to thank all the staff and students who kindly volunteered their services to help with the evening’s performance.

27th Jan   MUSIC TEA
Our first Music Tea of 2017 was a tremendous success with a variety of performances ranging from students’ own compositions, to Elgar, to Mozart.  A few highlights included Sabrina’s (Year 11) stunningly moving performance of Salut D’amour on the cello and Giulia’s (Year 12) sparkling rendition of Wienawski’s Obertass Mazurka, which is not an easy piece to get your fingers around!

Well done to all the girls involved!
